Animoca Brands acquires French game developer Eden Games

Blockchain game platform, Animoca Brands, has completed the acquisition of French game developer – Eden Games. The latter is the publisher of popular racing games whose Need for speed: Porsche Unleashed, F1® Mobile Racingand franchises Gear.Club, test drive, and V-Rally.

The focus will be on improving its REVV ecosystem while introducing more blockchain-based racing games.

Acquisition of Eden Games

Animoca Brands is on a wave of acquisitions, with two such deals this year alone. According to the last announcement, the gaming and venture capital firm plans to use Eden Games’ expertise and capabilities to focus on improving its REVV Motorsport (REVV) ecosystem. It also intends to launch a series of new blockchain-based racing games.

Following the announcement, Yat Siu, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, said:

“With its quarter-century of expertise in creating high-quality motorsport video games, Eden Games will enhance and accelerate the development of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem and add powerful value to the REVV community and the racing metaverse. .”

Launched in 1998, Eden Games was previously known as Eden Studios. Over the next two years, he had expanded his racing expertise and delved into other genres as well.

Its prominent partners include BMW, Bugatti and Porsche, among others. The latest news comes just a week after original owner Engine Gaming and Media revealed sale of its 96% stake in Eden Games for approximately $15.3 million in cash consideration.

Animoca expansion

This is not Animoca’s first acquisition. In fact, the company has been very active in games, NFT and Metaverse projects. In February he announcement complete the 100% acquisition of Melbourne-based indie game developer Grease Monkey Games.

The Hong Kong-based company has also backed more than 170 investments in NFT-dedicated companies and decentralized projects. He unveiled a $30 million guild accelerator program to boost the play-to-earn (p2e) ecosystem.

As noted earlier, the Acceleration Program would prioritize projects that ensure sustainability and have a lower physical footprint, thus focusing more on energy-efficient proof-of-stake (PoS) protocols and side chains. More recently, Animoca also participated in a $10 million Series A funding round from Lava Labs, a London-based blockchain gaming startup.

Some of the original games under its hood are The Sandbox, Crazy Kings, and Crazy Defense Heroes.
