GO Players in Game History

We take a look at some of the best CS:GO players of all time.

Given that CS:GO is one of the most popular esports in the world, it should come as no surprise that it has had many superstars over the years. Some of them were popular in CS 1.6, while others made a name for themselves in CS:GO.

Although creating a list with the best player in the history of the game is easier said than done, we decided to give it a shot. The players you see below are listed in no particular order. There’s never enough room on these rosters for every worthy candidate, but it’s the players we think stand out.

One of the first names on our list is Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, one of the best Swedish CS players in the world. Everyone who likes this game knows it GeT_RiGh is a living legend as he started his career in 2003. Unfortunately, GeT_RiGhT decided to retire from the professional scene and became a streamer for Dignitas, one of the most popular CS:GO teams.

Christopher is one of the people who was popular in CS 1.6. He has played for teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas, SK Gaming, Meet Your Makers and Fnatic. However, once CS:GO arrived, GeT_RiGhT spent seven years in Ninjas in Pajamas (2012-2019). He became a member of Dignitas in 2022 and started there until 2021, when he announced his retirement.

The fact that GeT_RiGhT has been in the pro scene for so long means he was on many legendary rosters. Some people will remember him for the stunning 87-0 card winning streak on LAN events, as well as the win at ESL One Cologne 2014.

GeT_RiGhT received all kinds of awards, like the best player of 2013 and 2014. He also received the MVP title in all kinds of tournaments, like the Copenhagen Games 2014.

One of GeT_RiGhT’s teammates must also be on this list as he is one of the most recognizable names in the game. The Swedish powerhouse Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg has also played for many teams over the years. Back in the CS 1.6 era, it was part of Embrace, Fnatic, Begrip, and SK Gaming. However, once CS:GO was released, he played for Ninjas in Pajamas for 8 years before moving to Dignitas.

Although f0rest had an impressive career in CS:GO, he is best known for his outstanding performances when he was part of Fnatic. Similar to GeT_RiGhT, f0rest has also won all sorts of awards during his career. He is also one of three players who played for the most prominent Swedish teams (SK, Fnatic and NiP).

After the Swedish superstars, the next player we have to point out is often considered the greatest of all time, and for a reason. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev is probably the best AWP player in the world, which is why he goes by the nickname “The Undertaker”.

At just 24 years old, s1mple has a total of 19 HLTV MVP awards and has won just about every CS:GO tournament. Unsurprisingly, s1mple also received the Best Player of 2018 and 2021 award.

Although most people know him for his incredible performances in Na’Vi, s1mple was on many other teams before that. For example, he played for teams like HellRaisers, Team Liquid, and Evolution. However, once he became a member of the Ukrainian organization, he quickly rose to the top.

S1mple continues to be one of the best players in the world and one of the main reasons Na’Vi continues to dominate the CS:GO scene.

While we’re talking about the AWPers, we should also mention Danish superstar Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz. Similar to s1mple, this player is known to be one of the best AWPers in the game. Unlike most players who became popular in CS 1.6, dev1ce was part of the Copenhagen Wolves in CS:Source.

Once CS:GO became the go-to game, dev1ce played for a few notable teams, such as Dignitas, SoloMid, and Astralis. He was also part of NiP, where he played alongside many other world-class players.

Like every other name on this list, dev1ce has won just about every CS:GO event, won countless MVP awards (he has 19, which puts him next to s1mple) and is the one of the few players to have won the most majors.

Unlike other games, such as Dota 2, where South American players try to follow their colleagues from Europe and other parts of the world, the situation in CS:GO is different. Therefore, it should not be surprising that Marcelo “coldzera” David is one of the greatest players of all time/

Coldzera is a Brazilian star who won HLTV Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017. Like all the other players on this list, coldzera was part of many legendary lists. He started showing his prowess while playing for Luminosity Gaming. After spending a year there, he joined SK Gaming and dominated the various CS:GO events.

In addition to SK, coldzera has played for FaZe Clan, MiBR, Yeah, and Complexity. As of this writing, he is part of 00 Nation.

Last but not least, we have Olof “olofmeister” Kajbje, a retired Swedish CS:GO pro player. Unlike some players on this list who were part of many teams, olofmeister mainly played for Fnatic and FaZe Clan. Although some people think his time at FaZe Clan was impressive, most players agree that the 3-year period at Fnatic stands out. During this time, olofmeister won two Majors and many other events. He also received the HLTV award for best player of 2015.

The Swedish superstar has also won several events while being part of FaZe Clan. In fact, he had to withdraw from the active list several times for different reasons. However, after the PGL Major in Stockholm ended, he decided to retire from FaZe Clan’s active roster. We don’t know if we’ll see this living legend in action in the coming months. Let’s hope he comes back.
