Peach Bowl Announces First Sale in Game History

The 2022 college football season isn’t here yet, but a key playoff game is already sold out. The Peach Bowl announced on Wednesday that the 2022 College Football Playoff semifinals at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta were sold out. This is the first sale in the 54 year history of the game of boules.

The CFP Peach Bowl semi-final game will be played on Saturday, December 31. The CFP selection committee will reveal its final ranking for the season on December 4. At that time, the Peach Bowl will be assigned either the No. 1 vs. No. 4 or No. 2 vs. No. 3 game and a 4 p.m. ET or 8 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will air on ESPN.

As the Peach Bowl announces that the game is sold out, fans of the 2 participating teams will still be able to purchase tickets through the school. Participating schools will be allocated their contractual ticket allocations once the match has been established.

The Peach Bowl notes that 23 of its last 26 games have been sold out. The game last hosted a CFP semifinal in 2019, when LSU defeated Oklahoma 63-28.

“We said this would be our ‘record season’ and it’s already happening with the first sale in our history,” Gary Stokan, CEO and President of Peach Bowl, Inc., said in a statement. “It’s a testament to the passion for college football that exists among Atlanta fans and the quality of games we are able to put on each year. This year, our ‘record season’ includes hosting of five top-10 teams between our two Chick-fil-A kickoff games to open the season and our Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Semifinal of the College Football Playoffs at the end.
